C.Y.S.L PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT
**Please
fill out and return to your coach**
The
CYSL Parents Code of Conduct MUST be signed and returned to
your coach. The reason for this is
that there are some rules that apply to parents during all games (home or away).
By reading and signing this we are holding parents responsible for their
actions, at the same time keeping them aware how they and the other parents
around them should conduct themselves.
PARENTS:
- Cheer
positively for ALL the players and encourage your team.
- Never
put down the other team or ANY of the players on either team.
- Please
leave the sideline coaching to the coach. Spectators frequently yell
instructions to players – these instructions often contradict those of the
coach and only confuse the players.
- Referees
are volunteers, not professionals. While their decisions may not always be
agreeable to all participants and spectators, they are final. No useful
purpose is served by shouting disagreement or derogatory remarks. Referees
can caution players or parents and dismiss them from any match for
misconduct. They can also caution and dismiss coaches, and can even
terminate the match. Deliberate fouls, or abusive words and disrespect on
the part of players, coaches or spectators can lead to these actions.
- For
the safety of all, coaches and spectators must stand at least 1 yard from
the sideline. No one is allowed to stand behind the goal; anyone at a game MUST
remain ahead of the 18-yard line of the goal on either side of the
field. Coaches and referees are asked to enforce this condition.
- Safety
Rule - for any player who is wearing earrings, this is not allowed (no
band-aid to cover.) This is to protect your child (as well as all
the children playing); it is the parent’s responsibility to take out
earrings. If this is not done
the child will not play (NO EXCEPTIONS).
- NO
smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed at games or practices.
- NO
pets allowed on the field at ANY time.
- Remember,
it’s only a game.
- Be
your child’s best fan. Support your child unconditionally.
- Do
not bribe or offer incentives (especially during a game). Bribes will only
distract your child from properly concentrating on practice and games.
Remember
that your child is the one playing soccer, not you. It's very important
to let children establish their own goals - to play the game for themselves.
Take care not to impose your own standards and goals on them.
